What Shall I Draw February 23rd?

Saturday.
Saturday!
SATURDAY!

For February, WSIDT a.k.a. “What Shall I Draw Today?” hits Saturday 23rd instead of the originally scheduled Sunday. Life happens and schedules change.

What Shall I Draw Today?
Saturday, February, 23rd 2019
Eastern Standard Time:  12pm noon - 8 pm
Pacific Standard Time:  9am - 5 pm

DISNEY DAY
But wait! It’s going to be Disney Day for WSIDT! This means that for that Saturday Disney themed suggestions get first consideration over non-Disney themed ones. To be clear, “Disney” will include Disney’s feature films (animated and live action), short subjects, Disney Channel, Disney Parks and sure Pixar, Touchstone and Hollywood Pictures too. Okay I’ll consider Muppets too.

Not for consideration on the day, however, are Marvel and Star Wars (Lucas Films), if only to leave open the possibility of a Marvel Day and/or a Star Wars Day down the line.

If you can’t resist tossing in a non-Disney suggestion, then those may subsequently pop up in the following weeks as a random daily sketch.

Also, since I am planning to have a table at WonderCon, Anaheim in March, you may think you’re being clever by suggesting something that you might be able to pick up at said WonderCon. Well, I’m not saying that you can’t do that. I’m neither saying that being at WonderCon will help your chances of me drawing your suggestion.

So, please post your suggestions at any of the following social media spots where you find the above prompting image from right now through the end of WSIDT Saturday:

What I Drew Sunday - May 29

Here, with a Disney trifecta, are the top 3 “liked” drawings from yesterday’s session of “What Shall I Draw Today?”

#1 - King Triton’s Seven Mermaid Daughters: suggested by palegeraniumlake

#2 - Moana: suggested by rickyanimation

#3 - The Mad Hatter (classic & new): suggested by panda_mestas

And here is the whole Sunday set of sketches:

The small ones are collector card size (2.5" x 3.5"), while the largest two are letter size (8.5"  x 11.0"). As with all the drawings made during previous WSIDT sessions, these are to be gathered up to be sold as original art at my next comic convention showing, which, as a matter of fact, will be Heroes Convention, in Charlotte, NC June 17-19.

Thanks to everybody who submitted drawing suggestions and voting with their “likes” on Instagram and Facebook, and just for following my feeds yesterday.

If I wasn’t able to get to drawing your suggestion this time, please try again during the next WSIDT session.

Check out my Instagram feed, @monstergram7 to view all 19 drawings.

This Is What I Drew Sunday – August 30

Here are the top 3 “liked” pieces from yesterday’s all-day session of “What Shall I Draw Today?”

#1 - Ellie and Carl as kids from Up: suggested by LJ Mandap

#2 - Yoda versus Darth Vader and Darth Maul: suggested by Christine Dennis Merritt

#3 - Rocket Raccoon and Baby Groot: suggested by LJ Mandap

And here is the whole Sunday set:

I think I’m ready for Long Beach Comic Con.

It’s not lost on me that this could be a sneaky way for folks to get free commission sketches (digitally through Facebook or Instagram). Given what’s readily accessible on the internet and sites like Deviant Art, “free” art is all over the place. I like to think of these as “suggested by” pieces rather than commissions, since I get to choose amongst the suggestions on what I spend time.

As usual the single and dual character pieces are drawn at collector card sizes of 2.5" x 3.5". The much larger pieces are at 5" x 7", a size chosen because I have clear binder sleeves with that size pockets (old style, jumbo photo size?). I doubt I’ll go bigger for a WSIDT piece. And before you all start getting a lot of crazy ideas with a gangs of characters and heaps props and extravagant backgrounds, I’ll say upfront, here and now, that you may suggest them, but I will not do it*.

For any one interested in purchasing one or more of these pieces of original art, you’ll have to catch up with me at one of my few comic convention appearances, like the upcoming Long Beach Comic Con.

Thank you once again to everyone who offered drawing suggestions and to those who voted with their Facebook and Instagram “likes.”

*Some things are deserving of breaking that rule, of course.
