What I Dew Saturday and Sunday – July 28th & 29th - Top 3

It’s a Disney trifecta for the top 3 liked pieces of what I drew in the weekend’s experiment of drawing in two 4-hour sessions.

Here they are:

#1 – Peter Pan and the Lost Boys as a Boy Band: suggestion by @michaelrmullin

There’s a tongue in cheek aspect in this idea that you might expect it to have come to life on Disney’s House of Mouse cartoon series (2001-2003).

Now, with Peter and the boys numbering 7 members, they don’t match up with any specific real life group that I know. But then, other than making Peter the rightful lead, I wouldn’t have been able to match up Lost Boy to any boy-band boy by personality any ways.

I had a thought to take them all out of their Neverland costumes and put them into some 90’s style or some hybrid versions. But the Neverland costumes are part of the gag, right?

I haven’t seen Peter Pan for a while, but making Skunk a bit out of step with the others seemed right to me.

#2 – Mary Poppins and Wendy Darling: suggestion by @elijones94

This scene came as a result of an “Oh, that’s right” moment upon realizing that both had sat or stood on a cloud. Wendy would still find it rather amazing. Mary would insist that Wendy wear a coat.

Although I had based the London skyline on an Peter Ellenshaw matte painting for Mary Poppins, in this fast-as-I-can sketch it may not have come together as well as it otherwise could. Maybe it needs some evening smoke trails from chimneys?

#3 – Stitch Running: suggestion by @assortedvariety

The full suggestion requested that he’d be in a half-marathon. I hope that I focused on the important part, opting not to draw a “half marathon” banner or other runners for that matter.

Of course, Stitch, a.k.a. Experiment 626, is wearing his own number. Then I supposed that he needed a jersey on which to pin that number.

This was also the third drawing created over the 2-day split session where I drew sweating characters. I blame the current California heat wave.

Back to Stitch – There must by some special finishing medal at the end of this run to motivate him to enter and much less finish a marathon of any length.

Here are the rest of the 13.
