Here are the top 3 liked pieces from Sunday’s session of “What Shall I Draw Today?”
#1 – Veronica Mars Teams Up with Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. Gang: suggestion by @alltookayleigh
#2 – Catwoman: suggestion by @bhagyashree.l
#3 – Young Balthazar Bratt (Despicable Me 3): suggestion by @lindsocolo
Oddly, perhaps, not one of the eleven pieces selected to be draw were Disney characters (not including Indiana Jones). This was not planned on my part. However, there’s always something interesting about the challenge of drawing something new. This contrasts with the results from the last held session in September where the top 3 were Disney characters.
When you’re trying to knock out as many drawings as you can in eight-hours, your tend to go with the first thing that pops into your head. Case in point, who should Veronica Mars unmask? Kristen Bells’s The Good Place co-star Ted Danson circa 2004 with mussed hair.
It was artist’s choice with which version of Catwoman to draw. As it landed as the second most-liked piece, maybe Michelle Pfeiffer’s version from Batman Returns was a wise choice.
There were also plenty of things which were introductions to me. Balthazar Bratt was one of those things having not seen Despicable Me 3. For another example, I’m not familiar with most video game characters, so with the suggestion to draw any character from Chrono Trigger, I went with the ponytail blond with the crossbow, Marle, because she looked interesting running abound with a crossbow.
I added a hastily fashioned WSIDT button to visually identify the pieces drawn during the session. It work like a charm because as an in-situ addition it doesn’t alter the artwork and it doesn’t depend upon digital photo editing, because who needs that added step? I will probably fashion something a bit bigger for next time, though.
And here is the whole set of 11 pieces drawn that Sunday:

All of these drawings are going into the hopper of original art for sale that I tote to my comic convention appearances. Next con TBA.

What I Drew Sunday – February 26th
Without further ado, I present here the top 3 of the 7 things that I was able to draw in the 6 hour Sunday session of “What Shall I Draw Today?”
#1 – Queenie and Jacob from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: suggested by harishasanic.
#2 – Stranger Things kids Lego-fied: suggested by Ryan Sieroty.
#3 – Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman: suggested by salemcattish.
With the “Fantastic Beasts” image, I went with artist’s choice styling it after the work of Al Hirschfeld. When roughing in the characters the silhouettes quickly suggested to me something Hirschfeld. Per Hirschfeld’s tradition, I tried sneaking in some “NINA”s (5 of them) and a nod to J.K. Rowling.
I narrowed down the “Stranger Things cast” suggestion down to the core group of the series’ kids: (L-R) Dustin, Eleven, Mike and Lucas. The flashlights might be Lego accurate, or they might not be, I didn’t slow down to do in-depth research.
Lastly, again by artist’s choice, I chose to stylize Dr. Quinn/ Jane Seymour after Marc Davis’s character designs for Briar Rose/ Princess Aurora in the animated classic, Walt Disney’s Sleeping Beauty.
And here is the whole set of 7 drawings:
The last posted drawing was the tribute to Bill Paxton. Quite a bit of time was spent on the 3 failed depictions of the late actor. I’m still not 100% happy with the final piece. May be I could have done one or two more suggestions otherwise..
All of these are going into my stock of original art for sale at my upcoming comic convention shows. The first for 2017 will by WonderCon at the end of March in the city of Anaheim, CA.
Thank you to everyone who submitted suggestions. Keep a weather eye open in the next few weeks where I may tap into those suggestions and draw them.
Thank you to everyone for your “likes” and for following.

monstergram7 - September & October 2016
Postings on my my Instagram feed, monstergram7, in the months of September and October were bolstered respectively by the year’s last “What Shall I Draw Today?” session and then by Inktober themed posts doubled by final color versions.
November and December ought to normalize to my 6 post per week pace, hopefully featuring more peeks of the in-production issue #3 of Unstoppable Tuff-Girl.

monstergram7 - July & August 2016
Well, I’ve maintained posting pretty regularly at a rate of no fewer than six times a week on Instagram during the summer months of July and August. The end-of-the-month “What Shall I Draw Today?” sessions are definitely helping me build up an original art stock to sell at my few comic book convention showings.
If it’s true that there’s an audience for everything, then the random WSIDT suggestions may meet those demands.
